Ski Backpack Trainer for Toddlers and Kids
Felicity, our youngest, was initially introduce to skiing at 18 months old at Keystone Ski Resort Colorado. We had purchased this backpack with a leash system and holding handles to help me ski with her between my legs after finding this item, Inside of the Summit House on top of the main mountain. You will find a little shop with all of the skiing accessories you may have forgotten or lost throughout the day. The price for this at Keystone was $55, I honestly thought it would have been more. Currently, This exact Lucky Ski Bum backpack cost less than $30 on Amazon. I quickly realized that her muscle strength, simply wasn't going to be there at this early age. However the backpack definitely kept her comfortable while we both slid down the bunny slope. This didn't Last long as Felicity fell asleep on the carpet ride after the second time down. This Day however will be one that I will cherish and remember for the rest of my life.
Fast forward to November 2017, We decided this was now the right time to step up are toddler ski game! Since Jaxson, my nephew, is only 6 months older than Flit, both of them were schedule to do 1 day of Ski school. Getting professional help with the introduction to skiing is by far the greatest investment for my Annabelle and Noah, especially if I ever wanted to keep this family tradition alive. The lesson was filled very fundamental skills that I could not have taught our little one. The patience on this instructor is beyond belief! After day 1 Felicity had learned how to get in and out of her skis, shuffle to get to where she needed to be, and balance on her tiny skis. After a full day of skiing, both kids were ready to be picked. Both of them really enjoyed their day, leaving 3 year olds with strangers isn't always easy. Except for when the staff does such an amazing job and both request to go back.
Day 2 is definitely going to be another day that I will not forget. Felicity simply could not wait to get back up the mountain for another full day of skiing. We loaded all the gear and dressed up for that cool mountain air, the beginning to our day was a short gondola ride up the mountain. Felicity jumped into her skis and we were off. A 3 year old does not have enough muscle memory to constantly keep the skis in the right direction, and I don't have the strength to ski for 5-6 hours bent over holding onto her arms. This is where once again the Lucky Bum Backpack ski trainer was a life saver. Felicity was able to go 6-8 ft in front of me, while I used the straps to reinforce her balance and direction. This great toddler skiing tool help us ski for more than 6 hours that day. (Excluding the 2 hour nap on the mountain top lodge.)
Over the last 7 years we Have always rented our skis from the same location. Mountain View Sports, locally owned and operated ski shop in Keystone, CO, always gives free kids ski ( under 12 year old ) for every adult rental purchased. I would highly recommend checking these guys out as the customer service along with the savings make our annual trip easier on the wallet.
